On 10th/11th June 2005, in Jadavpur University, a place which once used to be the grooming place for leaders in education, research, engineering, business, science and humanities, mayhem was planfully invited by some people who are supposed to be respectable and accountable. These are the scenes of Police Violence that occured on the campus that the brainchild of likes of Rabindranath Tagore and Rishi Aurobindo! This is the dirt to which some people have brought down JU's pride - fasting students and even girls being beaten up mercilessly commanded by Lucifers of modern times. We, the people of BCSEJU05 and JU, condemn this hellish episode with all our heart and appeal to all authorities and conscious citizens to take appropriate steps.
FOR THE LOVE OF OUR VERY OWN JADAVPUR UNIVERSITY, WE OBJECT TO THIS BARBARIC ACT AND APPEAL EVERYONE TO RAISE THEIR VOICE.

We can run, but we cannot hide. The police will not tolerate free thinking boys, so they chase and hit and massacre JU students.
You thought they were after someone like Charlie Manson? WRONG AGAIN. They are chasing students, who were peacefully fasting to register some valid points.
No, its not the Abu Ghraib prison. Its a state where such violence is officially condemned! Well, those "offices" are unofficially closed tonight, because vested interests have been challenged by these individuals.
This state is an "oasis". Women are "safe" here. Well, not if an educated girl wanted to make her thoughts heard - then her reward is like this. Feel sick at this sight? Wait, they are just starting their show!
SHAME, SHAME, SHAME. Don't they have children of their own? This is what these people do to a girl? Is this the information age? Or are we living in a jungle, predators masked as protectors?
Whoever gave the orders, this is the behaviour of ACCOUNTABLE OFFICE BEARERS? Then, he better grab a copy of a dictionary and check the meaning of that word once again!
Now even media cannot record. Its safe for them - inside the van - and yet, it will be called an ARREST. Sick people are running the show......HELL ain't much different.
None knows what happened next, and since noboy is accountable, nobody ever will. JUSTICE? INTEGRITY? HONESTY? DECENCY? "You have called the JU authority, so you see, its a wrong number!"

So this is THE end? This is the time to say goodbye? Hard to believe! Seems like yesterday Gola asked me with a quizzical look - "Hi Computer?". There won't be any more Pancha's "Aj Thak", Taliban's hunkaar, Budu's comedy, Sanskriti, Arena, maal, ganja, vijitkhanna vijitkhanna, CCDD................and the list goes on and on and on.....................
We have many reasons to be proud......as a class we are sending representatives to IISc, IITs, IIMs, TIFR, Ivy league US schools and best corporations of the world. But I believe that is secondary. What was supreme was our unity..........our strength as a team.........and we have really excelled in that front. There is not another department which has as strong a chemistry among its students as BCSEJU05. So friends, lets make a resolution. Whatever the future holds in store for us, we will stay together and in touch. BCSEJU05 will remain as strong a unit as ever. The world will look at us in awe........and salute us..............we will conquer all obstacles......TOGETHER

A strange title you may think considering my usual character.
No hidden messages in the title this time though.
come the end of June’05 and my time of leisure, of fun as a college student one living and rocking to his tunes and my so called tenure at JU comes to an end and it only seems like yesterday that I started, when in actual fact 4 years to the month has elapsedRather than covering the last few months here at JU I thought I would take this opportunity to reflect on some of my memories of my (our is a better word and perhaps more suitable) life at JU over the past few years
The HighsThere have been so many that it's been hard to really single them out or jot down in an abecedarian fashion but some do instantly spring to mind.
The first and the foremost must be when I started and the day that I joined the Dept. of Comp. Sc. and Engg. in 2001, arrived sharp on time in the morning on the very 1st day eager to join the guys/gals the first day and what a day it turned out to be??? Beginning with a quality chat with the seniors and the so called “ragging” [i would rather pit it as an interaction worth remembering] and the fact that it firstly got stuck in my mind that this is the place i wanted to be my whole life…changed the very attitude and goals i came to JU with: to study day-in-day-out to become a computer engineer…i didn’t abide by the rules, and followed the path what most others chose to take: the path of freedom in making our own rules, did we lose out on anything?………nah… we’ve done what we came here to do, but we did that in style……didn’t we??
Sourav, Samik(Dada), Nirveek, Dhrubajyoti (Robot/Pedro), Soumik(DiGiTaL), Anamitra, Golu, Joydeep(Chhoru) amongst others made us proud and slapped tight on the cheeks of those who in course of time tagged us as “the worst batch of CSE over the years” ..You people did make a statement in a handsome manner…..hats off to you
The picnic to Machranga Island dated 16.02.05 organized by the three managers viz. Debamitro, Sourasis and Sayan Pal doesn’t go down unlisted. They organized perhaps the best excursion for a batch right on the outskirts of those muddy waters in between India and Bangladesh where we all enjoyed the well planned outing…..
kudos to the unique and well constructed “khistis” by the cumulative 4-yr CSE crowd who turn up right on time during the JU Arena (but arrive late to classes)….some well known khisti players spring right in my mind: Avik(Laden), Sayan Ghosh(Laltoosh/Gajar), Arnab(Taliban) et al
The two CRs namely Syamantak(Syam the clown/Gambu) amd Sourasis(Russell/CR II), both gifted with the power of words, who did put us right on track by providing us with the XEROXes right when they mattered and boycotting the classes and organizing mass bunks, right when they didn’t mattered….
I in a sober state of mind would also like to thank the maalkhors and ganjakhors including Sayan, Dhiman(Badu), Aritra(Gola) and Abhijit amongst others for the well organized Grass`n`Vodka parties
The CharactersThe characters that I have met will live with me forever. Probably the most exhilarating were just after I started here and very much behind the gills when it came to meeting 'superstars'. I will never forget that day that I walked into the college premises to approach some strangers that I haven't seen before only to make friends with them! And what good friends for life I ended up with……..The Lows...Are there any?? If yes, please let me know…i cannot recall any, but for my poor memory resources i’m extremely sorry, i don’t remember 0s it’s the 1s that add up, the 0s contribute nothing
A Personal Bestdoesn’t look like it ought to be a personal best but everything has a reason ……thanks to a good 20 day delay in our semesters ringing the final time as the church bell leading right from a succession of unfortunate events at JU, but it ensured that we all finish our final exams on 30.05,05 the same day (mind you!!!) contrary to the previous schedule which would have otherwise plunged buckets of water on a memorable finish…..
Anyway enough from me! All I'd like to finish with is a big thanks, best of luck to all that I have met and worked with over the past years at JU – it’s been an experience. I won't be disappearing totally from the JU venue as my new job location happens to be the city of Joy: Kolkata itself and there is still plenty more to be done at JU if someone permits. So if you are here and see me whirring behind you at JU or an insane guy gurgling your name, it might well be me.All the best and may the next goal you achieve be the one of your dreams
